INFECTION CONTROL FACILITATOR


Bargaining Unit: NON-UNION
Status: Part Time TEMPORARY
Department: Infection Control/Client Safety
Site: St. Joseph's Hospital
Shifts: Days


Reporting to the Manager of Infection Prevention & Control, the Infection Control Facilitator is responsible to act as a resource for infection prevention and control, participate in risk management and safety, provide education to health care providers and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, guidelines and standards. Additional responsibilities include linking with external agencies to participate in regional and community-wide infection prevention and control activities. Travel between SJCG sites is required.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:
- Current registration, at a minimum, as a Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario, without restriction
- Demonstrated interest in infection prevention and control. IPAC Canada endorsed education program an asset
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant clinical experience
- A working knowledge of infection prevention and control, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and other relevant legislation and standards

Skills/Abilities:
- Self directed, effective collaborator and an efficient problem-solver
- Excellent organizational skills and verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Meditech and MS Office, including Word, Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint
- A valid Ontario driver’s license, the use of a reliable vehicle and adequate insurance

Assets:
- Completion or currently enrolled in a recognized infection prevention and control program
- Certification in infection prevention and control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
