REHABILITATION ASSISTANT


Bargaining Unit: OPSEU-Para
Status: Full Time TEMPORARY
Department: Chronic Pain Management Program
Site: St. Joseph's Health Centre
Shifts: Days/Evenings (potential infrequent weekends)
Rate of Pay: $23.18 - $23.69 per hour


The Chronic Pain Program requires a highly organized team player who will join our interprofessional team to assist us in carrying out the mission of St. Joseph's Care Group. This role requires a demonstrated appreciation of client-centred strength based care including the importance of accessibility, accountability, best practices and evaluation. It requires knowledge of triage, decision guide processes, and holistic programming in chronic pain. As an active member of an interprofessional team, the incumbent provides support to the program staff and clients

Qualifications:


- Diploma/degree from a recognized two-year Rehabilitation Assistant program is preferred. Equivalent combination of a similar post-secondary program focusing on physical rehabilitation (ie. Kinesiology) and experience working in a rehabilitation assistant capacity will be considered
- Knowledge of chronic pain, psychosocial rehabilitation principles, self-management, and strength based approaches to care
- Previous experience working with individuals experiencing chronic pain (with co-morbidities) an asset
- Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an interprofessional collaborative environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills. judgment, critical thinking skills, problem-solving and time management skills
- Previous experience delivering workshops, lectures, and educational material, scheduling and group planning
- Previous experience conducting fitness assessments, monitoring multiple clients during individual exercise an asset
- Previous experience organizing and planning programs, scheduling of clients
- Knowledge and experience with the development, execution and evaluation of treatment plans utilizing SMART goals
- Demonstrated solid computer skills, and an ability to utilize technology to effectively document in electronic medical records and retrieve relevant information
- CPR/First Aid an asset
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
