SUPERVISOR, YOUTH ADDICTION PROGRAMS


Bargaining Unit: NON-UNION
Status: Full Time
Department: Youth Services
Site: Sister Margaret Smith Centre
Shifts: Days

The Sister Margaret Smith Centre is a regional provider of substance abuse, problem gambling and eating disorder programs. Treatment is client-centred and offers a full range of addiction treatment options for adults, youth and their family members. Youth Addiction Programs provide education, prevention, residential and non-residential services for young people with substance abuse and/or gambling issues.

The Supervisor, Youth Addiction Programs is responsible for coordinating the various services and teams and providing general clinical supervision for the multidisciplinary staff. The Supervisor represents the program in system and community planning activties in collaboration with partner agencies.

Qualifications:

- Candidates must have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in human services from an accedited university
- Demonstrated experience at a supervisory level for both residential and non-residential programs, including therapeutic counselling and crisis management with adolescents
- Current expertise in substance abuse theory, child and adolescent development, childrens' mental health issues and systems theory
- Experience working with community partnerships
- Excellent oganizational skills and proficiency with office computer equipment and software
- Excellent leadership and team-building skills
- Superior ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
