COOK (20-R55)
Bargaining Unit: UNIFOR-HRM
Status: Part Time
Department: Nutrition and Food Services
Site: Hogarth Riverview Manor
Location: Thunder Bay, ON
Rate of Pay: $22.18 - $23.56 per hour
Qualifications:
- Successfully completed chef training or culinary management diploma (as per Long Term Care Homes Act Regulation #76)
- Licensed as a Cook in the province - Red Seal Certification preferred
- Food Safety Certificate by Public Health (current within the last 3 years)
- Prior experience in large quantity cooking, preferably in a healthcare facility
- Knowledgeable about the Canada Food Guide and therapeutic diets
- Familiarity with the Public Health Food Premises Act, the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP)
- Good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to read and write English and to follow written instructions, standardized recipes, production charts and therapeutic menus
- Effective planning, organizing, time management and problem-solving skills
- Previous experience with menu planning and costing, and computerized inventory management
- Catering and baking experience an asset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Must be in good physical condition and be able to meet the physical demands of the job, including ability to safely lift and transfer hot heavy objects (up to 15 kg) and to stand for long periods of time
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
