Job Description

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN (20-R639)
Bargaining Unit: Non-Union
Status: Full Time
Department: Pharmacy Services
Site: St. Joseph's Hospital
Location: Thunder Bay, ON Shifts: Days including weekends


Reporting to the Manager - Pharmacy Services and as a member of the Pharmacy Team, the Pharmacy Technician is responsible for the provision of pharmacy services to the clients in the hospital and outpatients within the context of the hospitals mission, goals, and objectives.


Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists
- Knowledge of inpatient pharmacy dispensing processes using unit dose
- Knowledge of pharmacy automation including experience with unit dose packaging and automated dispensing cabinets preferred.
- Knowledge of Medication Reconciliation practices preferred.

Skills/Abilities:

- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, SJCG staff
- Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
- Strong time management skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
- Demonstrated commitment to our core values of Care, Compassion, and Commitment
- Proven good attendance record with capability of maintaining this same standard.

Assets:

Experience in inventory control, sterile pharmaceuticals preparation, and hospital pharmacy.

Conditions of Employment:

Must maintain registration with OCP as a Registered Pharmacy Technician
