Job Description

SECOND COOK (24-0000427)

Bargaining Unit: UNIFOR HOSPITAL
Status: Part Time
Department: Nutrition & Food Services
Site: St. Joseph's Hospital
Shifts: Days/Evenings including weekends (0.4 FTE)
Rate of Pay: $25.60 - 26.12 per hour

Qualifications:

- Successfully completed chef training or culinary management diploma
- Red Seal Cook preferred, but not mandatory
- Minimum 3 years experience in large quantity food preparation, preferably in a health care setting
- Must possess and maintain a current Safe Food Handling Certificate
- Must be knowledgeable about Canada's Food Guide, therapeutic diets and HACCP
- Previous experience with inventory and cost control in a food service operation
- Good written & verbal communication/organizational skills
- Must be able to work with minimum supervision and in a team environment
- Physically capable of safely lifting and transferring hot heavy objects (must be able to lift up to 15 kg) and standing for the majority of the shift
- Must be able to work accurately, quickly and safely
- Catering experience an asset
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work

CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
