ADDICTION COUNSELLOR 2 (24-0000428)
Bargaining Unit: UNIFOR-SMITH
Status: Full Time
Department: Adult Services
Site: Sister Margaret Smith Centre
Shifts: Days (occasional evening shifts)
Rate of pay: $41.71 - $53.13 per hour
Sister Margaret Smith Centre is seeking a full time Addiction Counsellor to work within the Addiction Services teams. This position is primarily responsible for providing counselling, education and support in the areas of grief, loss, trauma and spirituality for individuals experiencing difficulties with substance abuse and mental health. Services for clients would include group therapy, individual counseling in both our live in treatment and outpatient programs. Candidate should have demonstrated experience in program development, training and evaluation related to the provision of grief, loss, trauma and spirituality.
Qualifications
:
- Master's level degree in Social Work or Psychology with a minimum of three years of clinical work
- Specialized training in trauma and/or EMDR is required
- Knowledge and experience working with grief, loss and spirituality. Specialized training is preferred
- Experience with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial model of care
- Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous Culture and Northern communities
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills
- Excellent group facilitation skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
